Our Customers Say

Rated 5 Stars!“I feel much safer now that I have Alarm Engineering. I was with another company that was not aware (as I was not), that I had no actual connection with them. Lightning had fried the connection. I feel like I’m getting what I’m paying for now.”

24/7 Protection

Life Safety systems monitor your home and family 24/7, whether your system is armed or not. Our team will work with you to determine the best number and placement for your devices to maximize the coverage for your home.

Not All Smoke Detectors Are Created Equal

Most people think of smoke alarms as those annoying devices that go off when you’re pan-searing those delicious steaks. But inside their plastic casing, there are fascinating technologies, making use of light sources and radioactive molecules, to alert us to the presence of smoke. Since their invention in the 1960s, smoke alarms have become integral parts of our homes, often mandated by law. There are two main types of residential smoke alarms, an important fact that is often not mentioned.

If you purchased your smoke detector from the hardware store or your electrician, you likely have an ionization detector, while we recommend and install photoelectric smoke detectors.

You may not know that most house fires are of the smoldering (rather than flaming) type, due to the abundance of flame retardant materials used in furniture upholstery and construction. Photoelectric smoke detectors detect smoldering fires better and faster. Read about the specific differences for yourself here.

Monitored photoelectric smoke detectors are designed to protect your family and home 24/7, whether your alarm system is armed or not. Learn more about professional monitoring from Alarm Engineering here.

Carbon Monoxide

You may know that carbon monoxide or CO poisoning, can cause sudden illness and death. Did you know that CO is colorless and odorless? Carbon Monoxide is produced by the incomplete burning of various fuels, including coal, wood, charcoal, oil, kerosene, propane, and natural gas. Products and equipment powered by internal combustion engines such as portable generators, cars, lawn mowers, and power washers also produce CO.

Because it is undetectable by our senses, CO detectors are an important part of any life safety solution.

Extreme Temperatures

You may think of our 24/7 professional monitoring service for security and fire protection only, but we can help you stay on top of issues like frozen pipes as well. We can monitor for extreme temperatures and flooding so issues can be detected before issues get out of hand.

  1. Extreme temperature monitoring alerts you when the unheated area around your pipes reach dangerously cold temperatures. If it’s a second home, use our Interactive Features to unlock and disarm your home right from your smartphone so a worker or neighbor can enter and help quickly.
  2. Flood monitoring alerts you to water in a crawlspace or basement, allowing you to address flooding issues quickly, hopefully before more damage is done.

Water Leak Detection

When you investigate home security, water damage probably isn’t the first thing you think of. However, water damage is probably more common and expensive than you think. Water damage is quick, too. In just a few hours, the damage can be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Imagine the potential damage if it’s a second home at the beach and you’re away for months at a time.

Every year, water damage from leaks, burst pipes and broken appliances costs homeowners and insurers upwards of $9 billion. Water damage is responsible for 23% of all homeowner property losses annually.

While old fashioned security systems might protect you against intruders and little else, Smart Home Security powered by Alarm.com guards your home against a wide range of threats, including the elements: fire, carbon monoxide, and water damage. In the event of a water leak in your home, our water solution detects the leak and immediately sends an alert to your smart phone so you can take action and prevent damage. It can even shut off your water supply automatically.
